College Intern - Strategic Sourcing & Product Development Description - What a College Intern - Strategic Sourcing & Product Development does at HP:
- Supports Procurement Architects in driving procurement readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, gaining exposure to supply chain strategy, sourcing requirements, and product development processes.
- Assists in tracking key procurement program metrics including supply chain resiliency, strategic sourcing objectives, component reuse, preferred parts adoption, and manufacturing readiness milestones.
- Conducts data analysis and develops reports to support procurement decision making, identify risks, and improve visibility of procurement performance across product programs.
- Supports deployment and tracking of product cost, helping monitor cost reduction initiatives, cost avoidance opportunities, and cost increases versus previous product generations.
- Collaborates with procurement, engineering, operations, and business teams to consolidate program status, performance metrics, and executive-level dashboards.
- Assists in maintaining Procurement Metrics Dashboards and other governance tools used to monitor program health and organizational objectives.
- Participates in cross-functional reviews to understand how procurement decisions influence product competitiveness, supply chain resilience, and business outcomes.
- Supports issue resolution activities by helping gather data, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate with stakeholders to address procurement-related challenges.
- Applies AI-enabled productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms to improve research, data synthesis, reporting efficiency, and presentation quality, while following company guidelines for responsible AI use.
Individuals who do well in this role at HP usually possess:
- Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Able to commit for a 5-6 months full time internship, starting in January 2027.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to transform data into actionable insights.
- Effective Verbal & written Communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Power BI, SQL, Python, or other analytics tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI productivity and research tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, or equivalent solutions, with an interest in using them responsibly to improve productivity, analysis, and communication.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Interest in program management, supply chain strategy, procurement, new product introduction, product cost management, and business operations.
