Full job description
UPMC Western Maryland is looking for a full-time Journeyman I-Plumber to support our Maintenance department!
This is a Monday-Friday, primarily dayshift position. Could require some on-call shifts.
- Candidates will be placed in appropriate job title/pay rate based on education/experience as part of the career ladder. Pay rates shown are for Journeyman I-Plumber job title.
Responsibilities:

Estimate costs of installations and repair work, including requisition of material, as needed.

Fit valves, couplings and other plumbing devices by screwing, bolting or soldering and seal connections with joint compounds, gaskets or caulking by using appropriate tools.

Inspect systems for pressure loss and leaks.

Install, repair and maintain various types of pipe assemblies, plumbing fixtures and piping systems from blueprints and sketches, including but not limited to chilled water, heating hot water and medical gas.

Investigate and perform system outages.

Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.

Mark, cut and bend pipe to meet specifications by using hacksaw, pipe cutter or cutting machine.

Perform all work following infection control procedures.

Prepare pipe for installation such as cutting, threading, removing burrs, grooving and bending.

Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited plumbing apprenticeship program required OR equivalent on the job training and/or military experience will be considered. Two additional years plumbing experience working in a healthcare or commercial environment.
