Position Highlights

The Hockey Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of RIT's NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Ice Hockey programs. This position is responsible for coordinating equipment and team operations, maintaining athletic supplies, and ensuring the efficient execution of logistical needs that contribute to first-class student-athlete experience. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, and campus partners while helping to foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and teamwork.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and managing team equipment, supplies, and inventory.

  • Supporting the organization and execution of team operations and logistics.

  • Assisting with equipment maintenance, distribution, and transportation.

  • Collaborating with coaches, student-athletes, and athletics staff to support program needs.

  • Participating in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Performing additional duties as assigned by hockey program staff and athletics administration.

The Hockey Operations Coordinator will join a dedicated team focused on creating an unparalleled student-athlete experience and preparing student-athletes for success as leaders in a global society. RIT sponsors NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Ice Hockey programs that compete at the highest levels of collegiate athletics while maintaining a strong commitment to academic achievement and personal development.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, and manages athletic programming, including competitions and events

  • Supervises event logistics, such as set up, ticketing, referee liaison, crowd control, and parking

  • Oversees routine maintenance of athletic facilities

  • Hires, supervises, and mentors students supporting athletic equipment operations

  • Coordinates closely with game and event officials

  • Supports bids for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships and other conference events

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of higher education athletic programs and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) administrative rules and regulations

  • Knowledge of and experience with event management systems and related software

  • Knowledge of facility maintenance, event setup, and safety protocols

  • Skill in multi-tasking, organization, and prioritizing

  • Ability to establish, build, and maintain effective working relationships

  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 2 years of relevant experience

  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

Specialized Contributor Level 2 - A fully functional role requiring established knowledge of the profession or field of work. Responsible for completing substantive assignments and projects. Problems are varied and non-routine, and resolution requires exercising judgment, analysis, advisement, creativity, and understanding broader sets of issues. May provide assistance to entry level staff.
