Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting operations for a leading long-term care organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on financial leader who enjoys managing accounting operations while contributing to strategic financial planning and analysis. The ideal candidate is looking to grow into a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role and will work closely with executive leadership on financial strategy, budgeting, reimbursement analysis, and organizational performance

The successful candidate will have a strong background in long-term care finance, a thorough understanding of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, and a proven ability to lead and develop an accounting team

Requirements

Accounting & Financial Operatins

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, fixed assets, cash management, and month-end close

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and healthcare accounting standards

  • Manage account reconciliations and oversee all balance sheet activies

  • Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities

  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports, key performance indicators (KPIs), and variance analyses to senior leadership

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning

  • Support strategic initiatives by providing financial modeling and operational analysis

  • Monitor cash flow and recommend strategies to improve financial performance

Reimbursement & Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain a strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party reimbursement methodologies

  • Collaborate with clinical and reimbursement teams to monitor reimbursement performance and optimize revenue

  • Support cost reporting and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations

  • Stay current on reimbursement changes affecting the long-term care industry

Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Establish priorities, streamline processes, and improve operational efficiencies

  • Partner with department leaders to support sound financial decision-making across the organization

Strategic Growth

  • work closely with the CFO and executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives

  • Participate in acquisitions, system implementations, process improvements, and other organizational projects as needed

  • Develop the leadership and financial expertise necessary to advance into a future CFO role

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, preferably within a long-term care, skilled nursing, or post-acute healthcare environments

  • Demonstrated experience managing an accounting team

  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare financial reporting

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and month-end close processes

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting software

  • .Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or MBA

  • Experience with multi-facility healthcare organizations

  • Experience with healthcare cost reporting and reimbursement analysis

  • Proven success implementing process improvements and financial systems
