Description
SUMMARY
This position evaluates and implements physical therapy to patients with neurological, burn/wound, or musculoskeletal injuries, or to patients with other acute or chronic physical disabilities through the use of physical therapy techniques to relieve pain, restore function, and facilitate independence.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

Evaluate and assesses the patients abilities and limitations.

Establish plan of treatment and goals bases on the referral an evaluation of functional skills; joint mobility; gait; developmental reflexes; muscle strength, tone, and coordination; sensation tests; and other measures to ensure rapid patient recovery.

Implement therapy according to the established plan, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment and techniques within the scope of physical therapy.

Educate the patient and/or the caregiver about the findings of the evaluation, established goals of the physical therapy program, plan of treatment, home programs, injury prevention and other related information.

Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of physical therapy modalities.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The Staff Physical Therapist must be licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of Iowa.

Must be a graduate of an APTA accredited college or university with a certificate, masters degree, or doctorate in physical therapy.

Must have current BCLS certification.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

A basic knowledge of computer skills is required.

Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with strong written and verbal skills.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations professionally.

Ability to work in a fast paced, rapid changing and regulatory environment.
