Summary This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR, Position Description Number D1285000 and is part of the NJ UTES, National Guard. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR, WG-5801-11, you will: Inspects a large variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment Inspects complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition Inspects and performs tests to braking, steering, and differential systems Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed Prepares lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized. Requirements Conditions of Employment Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work.
