The SSO plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, visitors and the protection of property on the USC campus. This position requires vigilant observation, quick reporting of safety concerns, and effective communication with the public, police officers and the Security Operations Center. The SSO may work a variety of duties to include securing and protecting property, providing safety escorts, and other duties. The SSO is a civilian (non-sworn) position which works in conjunction with USC law enforcement officers and other personnel.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the general public.- Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations.- Ability to communicate effectively. Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
