Full job description

The power utility market is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, with drivers such as artificial intelligence and the electrification of infrastructure expected to create exponential load growth for power utilities across North America. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to expand the delivery of reliable power solutions to the North American market.

We are seeking professional candidates with gas turbine and/or thermal generation power plant knowledge and experience to lead and grow our power generation practice for North America. In this role, you will be responsible for expanding Jacobs’ planning, design and owner’s engineer services portfolio for electric power utilities, cooperatives, municipalities and Independent Power Producers. Your business portfolio is expected to feature new base loaded or firm/dispatchable power generation resources including new gas fired simple or combined cycle power plant facilities. Your primary responsibilities will be to develop and execute market and sales strategy, identify talent gaps, recruit skilled professionals to enhance Jacobs’ capabilities, and establish or deepen relationships with key clients. You’ll be expected to possess highly collaborative and sophisticated communication and problem-solving skills. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to collaborate with sales and delivery staff to develop innovative and compelling power generation solutions that provide exceptional market value. Experience in consulting, design, design management and project management will be highly regarded, as will experience in Owner’s Engineer roles or contract management, and advisory (technical advisor/due diligence) roles as well as strategic project development experience. Office based, remote or hybrid positions are available.

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree

  • At least 10 years of project management, design, consulting, construction, commissioning and/or operations experience in the power generation market.

  • Experience in overseeing execution of thermal generation power plant projects through various phases of development from planning to commercial operation.

  • Proven ability to engage and develop strong working relationships with clients, vendors, EPC contractors and other project stakeholders.

  • Strong communication and technical writing skills

Other highly regarded qualifications include:

  • Prior experience in operational leadership roles

  • Prior experience in recruiting, developing and growing operational delivery teams

  • Personnel management experience

  • Broad network of power industry contacts and relationships

  • Familiarity with diverse power generation technologies including Simple and Combined Cycle Gas Turbines, RICE Generators and other thermal generation power plants

  • Professional engineering license(s)
