Job Title: Press Operator

Job Description

This role operates production and assembly machinery to manufacture high-quality parts and products in a plastic injection automotive facility. You will set up and run press equipment, complete secondary operations, inspect parts for defects, and ensure accurate documentation and packaging for shipment while following all safety and environmental guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machines and assembly equipment to manufacture parts and finished products according to production specifications.

  • Position inserts, hand loads, and work pieces on machines accurately to ensure proper operation and part quality.

  • Remove finished products from machines when not handled robotically, ensuring safe handling and flow of materials.

  • Visually inspect 100% of products for surface and dimensional defects, following quality standards and documentation in the quality book.

  • Complete all required secondary operations on parts, such as trimming, adding fasteners, and other tasks noted in the quality book.

  • Maintain and update all production documentation accurately, whether on paper or within a real-time computer system.

  • Fill in all appropriate information on labels and associated documentation needed for products and shipments.

  • Package products correctly for shipment, ensuring labeling, documentation, and packaging standards are met.

  • Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times while operating machinery and working in the production area.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with Environmental Management System guidelines and facility standards.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with machine operation in a production environment.

  • Hands-on experience in production and assembly work.

  • Experience in quality inspection or quality-related tasks.

  • Ability to operate press machines or similar production equipment.

  • Capability to visually inspect parts for surface and dimensional defects.

  • Ability to complete secondary operations such as trimming and adding fasteners.

  • Competence in maintaining accurate production documentation on paper and in computer systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

  • Ability to follow safety policies and environmental guidelines consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a press operator in a manufacturing or automotive environment.

  • Familiarity with plastic injection molding processes.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekdays and weekends, as scheduled.

  • Strong reliability and attendance record.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.

Work Environment

The role is based in a plastic injection automotive plant that is considered clean for an automotive facility but is non-temperature-controlled and can be loud. Team members work on and around production and press machinery in a high-volume environment. The schedule follows a rotating shift pattern across A, B, C, and D shifts, including both weekday and weekend work, with defined on and off days. Employees should be comfortable working in an industrial setting with consistent machine noise and varying temperatures, adhering to all safety and environmental management system guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saline, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
