The Medical Scientist, Medical Office, Global Medical Affairs, will function as a subject matter expert (SME) on Ascendis Pharma’s product-related clinical data, as well as disease state, treatment landscape, and new and emerging trends within current therapeutic areas. The Medical Scientist will support the development of global medical strategy and tactics. The Medical Scientist will also lead execution of selected global tactics.

The Medical Scientist should have a strong background and experience in pharmaceutical industry, medical affairs, endocrinology and/or rare diseases. This individual will work as an integral member of Global Medical Affairs and collaborate closely with team members from Clinical Development, Global Commercial & Market Access, and local medical teams.

The Medical Scientist will establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. key opinion leaders (KOLs), patient advocacy groups, and medical societies) aligned with Ascendis Pharma’s current and future therapeutic areas.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Global Medical Office team in defining medical narrative and strategic imperatives, and outlining a roadmap for successful delivery of the imperatives across the Ascendis Pharma portfolio of products

Leverage medical expertise and hands-on clinical experience to ensure relevance and rigor of the medical strategy

Contribute to the development of an integrated plan for generating evidence e.g. real-world evidence, observational studies, phase IV studies, etc.) to address unmet medical needs, evidence gaps, and anticipated competitive advantages

Filter and communicate key insights on disease areas, competitive landscape, and unmet medical needs

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant science, applicable literature, disease state information, and landscape trends within aligned therapeutic areas.

Support the medical education strategy to amplify key medical messaging and enhance country readiness

Support congress activities, including symposia

Cultivate relationships with thought leaders in medicine, rising stars, and reference centers in rare endocrinology

Share scientific and medical insights with healthcare professionals through 1:1 meetings and conferences

Contribute to the planning and execution of advisory boards and other key KOL meetings (speaker bureau, preceptorship)

Provide expert medical input to support reimbursement and policy-related activities

Ensure full compliance with internal SOPs and global regulatory requirements

Work closely with & support the country medical teams, ensuring alignment with & execution in line with global medical strategy

Requirements

MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent degree

5+ years in pharma industry, preferably within Medical Affairs

A strong ability to interpret and articulate clinical data

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliant medical affairs practices

Biotech / pharmaceutical industry experience from both local and global roles, with understanding of drug development and Medical Affairs function

Experience working in a cross-functional matrix with many internal stakeholders and building trusted partnerships.

Translate high-level business needs and objectives into actionable plans.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and communicate across all levels within the company.

Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written

In-depth understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical Medical Affairs, R&D and Commercial activities.

Ability to travel internationally to conferences and meetings, which will include occasional weekend travel.

Ability to travel up to 20%
