Full job description

Teach Critical Reading (RDG 100) courses to a diverse student body, including Early College High School students. Teaching varying schedules and locations, either face-to-face or virtually. The adjunct instructor will follow the established syllabus, using multiple instructional methods that emphasize student success and retention, assessing learning, utilizing the college’s learning management system for grading and various instructional purposes, and participating in the department’s continuous improvement process Baccalaureate degree in Reading, Reading Education, Language Arts, Secondary English Education, English, or Literature. Master’s degree in Reading, master’s degree in any discipline with twelve to fifteen semester hours in Reading, Reading Education, Language Arts, Secondary English, English Education, English, or Literature. Reading Specialist certification, or a higher credential in the teaching of Reading. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures. Teaching experience at a two-year college and/or teaching experience in adult education. Experience teaching with instructional technology, knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to implement innovative teaching strategies. The work hours are during the day at the time the classes are offered.
