Substitute Bus Driver Aide

Job Qualifications

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED

Job Description: Attends to the physical and emotional needs of special education students on school buses. Employees in this class are responsible for the care and safety of students with disabilities transported to and from their homes and schools. Nature of work involves managing student behavior to provide the driver freedom to operate the school bus safely by creating a positive and safe transportation environment. Bus attendants must exercise constant alertness to children's physical problems and to react promptly in the event of seizures or other problems. Employees in this class must also be knowledgeable of all students assigned to the bus. Work is performed under the direction of a Bus Driver Trainer/Supervisor and Director of Transportation in accordance to the student’s Individualized Education Plans.
