Full job description

Job Description:

Join a global technology leader and take your technical career to the next level. North Star Imaging (NSI) is a worldwide leader in 2D digital radiography and 3D computed tomography equipment. As part of Illinois Tool Works (ITW) , a Fortune 250 company, we combine the agility of a specialized technology business with the strength and stability of a global industrial powerhouse.

We are seeking a dynamic Product Manager to join our Marketing team at our headquarters in Rogers, MN. In this role, you will own the strategy behind the mission — pushing the boundaries of industrial CT and X-ray inspection technology and giving engineers and manufacturers the ability to spot flaws invisible to the naked eye before they become failures in the field. You will shape the portfolio, translating customer insight into products, and drive the growth that keeps NSI at the leading edge of imaging technology.

This role calls for an entrepreneurial spirit: someone who wants to dig into market data, talk to customers directly, and turn what they learn into pricing decisions, roadmaps, and product launches with major impact.

What You will Do:

  • Profitably grow the product portfolio by developing, implementing, and driving marketing/business strategies and annual growth plans that increase market share and size.

  • Apply structured prioritization and resource-allocation principles (e.g., focusing on the highest-impact products, markets, and customers) to manage the product line lifecycle, lead business growth initiatives, and maximize portfolio profitability and performance.

  • Conduct ongoing market research, competitive analysis, and voice-of-customer (VOC) data collection; translate insights into actionable product decisions: pricing, roadmap priorities, positioning, and go-to-market adjustments.

  • Champion customer-driven innovation and market segmentation to identify, prioritize, and pursue new product opportunities and growth market segments/applications.

  • Analyze and communicate sales trends for given product lines, creating dashboards and tracking reports.

  • Build and maintain an innovation pipeline that supports NSI's business strategies.

  • Lead new product development (NPD) projects using established NPD processes, defining strategic fit, competitive positioning, value proposition, business case development, and go-to-market implementation.

  • Manage a portfolio of products through the development, commercialization, growth, maintenance, and obsolescence stages.

  • Determine product pricing for all global regions based on market research, production/material costs, and anticipated demand; review margins and adjust pricing to maximize operating income.

  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop and execute lead generation programs and campaigns for assigned products.

  • Convey value propositions for assigned product lines to key market segments through industry seminars, advertising, and collateral including brochures, videos, and web content; work with content creators to produce desired materials.

  • Work with Sales to create product sales strategies, sales tools, and playbooks. Facilitate product training for sales enablement.

  • Provide input to Engineering, Service, Scanning, Training, and Sourcing/Supply Chain (including supplier evaluations, key supplier relationship management, and occasional supplier visits) on improvements to in-market products based on quality concerns, customer feedback, and market impact.

  • Ensure product offerings meet applicable industry, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., NDT/CT imaging certifications, export control requirements) relevant to North Star Imaging's global markets.

  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, or Business. MBA is a plus.

  • 5-7 years of related work experience in a technical field as a product manager, including experience with voice-of-customer research and new product innovation.

  • Previous experience with industrial, scientific, or instrumentation equipment is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead business growth initiatives and projects.

  • Proven ability to identify and understand market segmentation, develop financial business justifications, and deliver proposals to upper management.

  • Experience championing product development among a multi-functional team.

  • Familiarity with lean, segmentation-based, or similar structured business frameworks is a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to effectively manage priorities and time when overseeing multiple projects of varying magnitude with firm delivery dates.

  • Ability to demonstrate products and train others.

  • Ability to travel up to 15% (domestic and occasional international).
