Description

General Summary

Position provides oversight, direction and coordination for all operations and maintenance (O&M) activities at assigned jobsite to ensure adherence to contractual objectives. Position supervises and coordinates activities of skilled trades workers engaged in maintaining and repairing equipment, structures, utility systems, buildings, and grounds at assigned jobsite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The performance of general and specialized administrative duties such as,

  • reviewing and approving leave requests; counseling employees, creating inter-departmental reports, attending meetings, and corresponds with upper-level supervisors and other departments regarding daily activities at the Naval Academy.

  • Maintaining safe operating practices and building maintenance inspections.

  • Implementing plans & procedures within the Building Maintenance section.

  • Working with Public Works Department and the building Tenants.

  • Oversees a variety of duties in maintaining, repairing, operating and renovating properties and facilities.

  • Assists in making decisions on all normal & minor repairs and reports major problems to Supervisor or Public Works Department.

  • Operate the CMMS software for scheduling work to each department.

  • Equipment, Machine, or Manual Skills Required: General understanding of electro-mechanical equipment. A demonstrated skill in one trade and basic understanding of other trades acquired through similar on-the-job training.

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and PPE procedures.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to conduct accident investigations and safety inspections.

Work Experience

  • 5 years Experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or skilled trades work.

  • One year of this experience must have been in a lead worker or crew leader capacity.

Education, Licenses and Certification

Required:

  • High School Diploma
