Salary Range: $30.00 To $35.00 Annually

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Operator Technician will participate in the maintenance, repair, and operation of complex

underwater search and recovery systems and subsystems. This person is required to work in a team environment and to travel worldwide on an emergency call basis. This position is located in Largo, MD and reports directly to the Lead Operations Technician.

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT (HOURLY)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operating, maintaining and troubleshooting complex search (side scan sonar), recovery

  • (remotely operated vehicle (ROV)) systems, and their launch and recovery systems (LARS) in the ready for issue (RFI) condition and in the offshore environment.

  • Maintenance and operation of all deck machinery.

  • Maintain logs, records, and documentation updates.

  • Operate and fly side scan sonar or other towed systems.

  • Pilot and copilot ROVs and operate ROV manipulators.

  • Assist in developing search and recovery plans.

  • Assemble recovery rigging.

  • Effectively handle all watch standing requirements of search and ROV operations.

  • Comply with established Phoenix QMS processes and procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree, two years of formal mechanical and hydraulic training, or four years of equivalent work experience.

  • Field experience, two years maintaining and repairing diesel generator sets, hydraulic power and control equipment, manipulators, and hydraulic tools.

  • Ability to read and troubleshoot from electrical and hydraulic schematics.

  • Familiar with hazardous material handling, packaging, and shipping.

  • Familiar with hydraulic test sets, flow/pressure meters, and non-destructive testing.

  • Computer competence in Windows environment.

  • Ability to carry out tests and assignments with little to no supervision.

  • Team player with attention to detail and good organizational skills.

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.

  • Ability to travel worldwide on short notice, for indefinite periods of time.

  • Ability to walk unassisted and carry 75 pounds.

  • Ability to see and/or hear equipment readouts.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check, as required.
