Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) with sterile compounding experience to support a high-compliance pharmacy environment. This individual will serve as the pharmacy's designated PIC while providing leadership across sterile compounding operations, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, prescription verification, inventory management, and staff oversight.

This role is ideal for a pharmacist who enjoys a blend of hands-on clinical work, operational leadership, and regulatory responsibility.

Responsibilities

Pharmacy Operations & Compliance

Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge and maintain accountability for pharmacy operations

Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations

Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and audits

Develop, maintain, and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures

Monitor quality assurance initiatives and patient safety programs

Maintain accurate documentation and operational records

Sterile Compounding

Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, dosing, and compatibility

Prepare and verify compounded sterile preparations in accordance with established procedures

Ensure compliance with USP standards and applicable regulatory guidelines

Utilize aseptic technique and sterile workflow best practices

Review compounding records and batch documentation

Support environmental monitoring and quality control processes

Verify labeling, packaging, and final product accuracy

Leadership & Staff Management

Supervise pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff

Provide training, coaching, and ongoing performance support

Promote adherence to SOPs and quality standards

Assist with staffing, scheduling, and workflow management

Foster a collaborative and compliant work environment

Inventory & Medication Management

Maintain medication inventory and oversee purchasing activities

Ensure appropriate storage and handling of medications

Monitor controlled substance inventory and documentation

Prevent medication shortages while controlling waste

Clinical Support

Provide medication counseling and patient education

Collaborate with providers regarding medication therapy questions

Participate in medication safety initiatives

Serve as a subject matter expert for compounded sterile preparations

Skills and Requirements

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree

Active pharmacist license in the state of practice

Previous sterile compounding experience

Strong knowledge of USP standards

Experience utilizing aseptic technique within a cleanroom environment

Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and compliance requirements

Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Ability to work independently and within a team environment Previous Pharmacist-in-Charge experience

Experience within specialty pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or compounding pharmacy environments

Familiarity with USP standards

Experience supporting Board of Pharmacy inspections

Experience training and mentoring pharmacy technicians

Multi-state pharmacy licensure

Experience with controlled substance management and auditing
