Maintenance Technician

Roanoke, VA

General Shale Brick, Inc., the leading manufacturer of brick and masonry materials, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Roanoke, VA manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on opportunity within a highly automated, team-oriented production environment, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance on general mechanical equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and plumbing systems.

  • Complete general fabrication and welding tasks, including passing an in-house welding test.

  • Safely operate oxygen and acetylene torches, cutoff wheels, grinders, drills, reciprocating saws, and other power tools.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with basic hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, files, sockets, and ratchets.

  • Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and safe work practices.

  • Collaborate with production and maintenance team members to ensure maximum equipment uptime.

  • Follow work instructions and safety policies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of one year of related industrial maintenance experience required.

  • Working knowledge of general fabrication, welding, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a maintenance team.

  • Ability to follow directions and read and understand technical instructions.

  • Willingness to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to perform visual inspections and hands-on mechanical work throughout the shift.
