Full job description

Position purpose

The Industrial Engineer - Actuators (f/m/d) owns the manufacturing realization system for Dcubed products from development through SOP, ramp-up and continuous improvement. The role is accountable for manufacturing BOMs, manufacturing process flows, routings, work instructions, standard times, capacity planning, material readiness visibility, production readiness inputs and manufacturing scalability. The Industrial Engineer ensures that every product can be built efficiently, repeatedly, on time and at the planned cost while acting as the bridge between Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Quality Operations.

Key responsibilities - development phase

  • Represent producibility, manufacturability, assembly logic, testability, cost and scalability during the development phase.

  • Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Test (DFT) and Design-to-Cost input into product development.

  • Identify manufacturing risks, long-lead risks, tooling needs, special process needs, bottlenecks and capacity constraints before design release.

  • Ensure Engineering decisions consider manufacturing feasibility, production time, material availability and future scalability.

Key responsibilities - industrialization ownership

  • Own the Manufacturing BOM (mBOM), including manufacturing structure, production configuration, kitting logic and build-relevant material structure.

  • Own manufacturing routing, build sequence, manufacturing process flow, shopfloor flow and production realization logic.

  • Own work instructions and ensure that production documentation enables repeatable, controlled and efficient manufacturing execution.

  • Own standard times, labor models, capacity assumptions, routing times, test time assumptions and manufacturing cost input.

  • Define tooling, fixtures, equipment, workstation needs and process readiness requirements together with Manufacturing and Engineering.

Key responsibilities - material and production readiness

  • Own material readiness status for qualification builds, first production builds and serial production ramp-up.

  • Coordinate long-lead item tracking, procurement readiness and logistics readiness with Supply Chain while Supply Chain owns purchasing execution.

  • Ensure all materials, tooling, fixtures, equipment, production documents, work instructions and resources are available before build start.

  • Own Build Readiness Reviews and Production Readiness Reviews from an industrialization perspective.

  • Escalate material, tooling, capacity or process readiness gaps early to Operations / COO and the relevant functional owners.

Key responsibilities - SOP, ramp-up and continuous improvement

  • Support SOP execution, production ramp-up, process stabilization and transition from development builds to repeatable production.

  • Monitor production flow, bottlenecks, cycle times, labor hours, rework loops and manufacturing inefficiencies after SOP.

  • Drive continuous improvement, Lean initiatives, waste reduction, automation opportunities and scalability improvements.

  • Maintain and improve standard times, capacity models and manufacturing process assumptions throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Ensure feedback from Manufacturing and Quality is translated into robust process improvements without taking ownership of NCR/RCA decisions.

Relevant profile

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or comparable technical discipline.

  • Experience in aerospace, space hardware, precision manufacturing, industrialization, manufacturing engineering or production planning.

  • Strong knowledge of mBOM structures, routings, work instructions, standard times, DFM/DFA/DFT and manufacturing readiness gates.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, manufacturing data structures, capacity planning, long-lead tracking and operational readiness management.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and PMO while maintaining clear ownership boundaries.

  • Eligibility to work in Germany.

  • Fluent English language skills.
