Job Duties

Set up Cold Heading

Essential Duties

Machine Setup & Changeover

  • Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and rules.

  • Maintain confidentiality of information received, created, or processed.

  • Promote a safety awareness and commitment at all times.

  • Perform complete setups and changeovers on multi-die cold heading machines.

  • Install and align dies, punches, knockouts, cut-off tooling, and transfer components.

  • Adjust feed mechanisms, timing, cut-offs, and forming stations.

  • Conduct first-piece inspections and obtain quality approval before production runs.

  • Minimize downtime by completing setups efficiently and accurately.

Tooling & Equipment Management

  • Inspect tooling for wear, cracks, or dimensional deviations.

  • Perform minor tooling adjustments and coordinate major repairs with Tool Room

  • Maintain proper tooling storage and organization.

  • Assist in troubleshooting tool breakage and premature wear issues.

  • Support tooling improvement initiatives.

Quality Assurance

  • Read and interpret blueprints, job routers, and technical drawings.

  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, optical comparator, etc.).

  • Verify parts meet dimensional and cosmetic specifications.

  • Document setup parameters and production data accurately.

  • Follow ISO/IATF quality standards and procedures.

Troubleshooting & Process Improvement

  • Diagnose machine malfunctions including misfeeds, alignment issues, dimensional variation, and tool failure.

  • Make real-time process adjustments to maintain quality output.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce scrap and improve cycle times.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.

  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures during machine setup and maintenance.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas (5S standards).

  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
