Full job description

Call rotation minimum 1 in 5 weekdays, including weekend 1 in 5. Currently 1 in 7 to 1 in 8 call shifts.

JOB SUMMARY

The Surgical Tech assists the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures as directed and is responsible for adequately preparing operating suite for procedure. Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments. The Surgical Services Surgery Department includes General Surgery, Endoscopies, Orthopedics, Urology, OB-GYN and Ophthalmology.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS includes the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Prepares Operating Room and field, selects instruments and packs for appropriate cases in accordance with surgeon preferences.

  • Assist with surgical procedures under direction of the circulating nurse and / or practitioner in accordance with scope of practice including but not limited to passing of instruments, sponge count, and maintaining sterile field.

  • Performs room turnover, decontamination of instruments, stocking, and other duties as assigned.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Highest level of education completed, minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.

Training and Experience

  • Minimum of (2) year’s prior experience in either IP or OP preferred.

  • Total joint experience a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Washington State DOH Surgical Technologist registration required.

  • American Heart Association BLS required.

  • Current CST preferred.
