Lead Finishing Operator - Mebane, NC

12 Hour shifts - Nightshift 7PM-7AM

The Opportunity:

  • The lead is responsible for evaluating opportunities and pulling the team together to accomplish set goals. The lead is to strive for results by being a good communicator who motivates, coaches and encourages team members in a fair and consistent manner. In addition, this person will be dedicated and have a clear vision of their task and exhibit a sense of urgency while being committed to the overall success of the team and this facility.

  • Perform assignments from the Activity Based Safety System, conduct shift safety walk through and safety 2-minute drills, ensure lock out tag out is performed as required, assist in conducting accident investigations, continuously monitor and access activities with safety as the priority.

  • Monitor the quality systems, check the required documentation, sample the product during the process of the run, check the post audit quality at the end of the gluers, provide technical expertise on the quality matters as required.

  • Monitor productivity to ensure crews are on pace to achieve/exceed daily goals, provide expertise to resolve issues that prevent achieving goals, aggressively attack downtime causes with effort to return to production as quickly and as safely as possible while at the same time, ensuring a quality product, monitor and record waste, take actions to minimize and waste; perform and assist with all pre-make readies on all presses.

  • Provide feedback and participate in employer learner checklist review.

  • Chart all production and any problems that occurred on the shift.

  • Safe work environment with accident rates under plant goals for LWDIR and OIR.

  • Understand goals and expectations and set priorities to ensure crews are on pace to achieve/exceed daily goals.

  • Provide expertise and vision to resolve issues.

  • Monitor, record waste and take actions to minimize excessive waste.

  • Review and confirm that all resources needed for the upcoming jobs are stage.

What you need to succeed:

  • Knowledge of Bobst and Leary preferred.

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as 5S is a plus.

  • Excellent leadership, management, troubleshooting, problem solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal.

  • Five year's industry experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of production associated databases.

  • Ability to direct employees to meet stated work objectives.

  • Thorough understanding of production processes and manufacturing systems.
