Overview Responsible for communications between the nursing units and the Food Service Department in regard to patient menus, diet changes, and general patient services. Reads the patient menus to patients twice daily. Edits patient selections to meet restrictions associated with diet orders. Organizes and manages diet orders in a timely and effective manner. Develops menu tallies of special requests. Must be familiar with dietary restrictions on special, modified diets to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction. Reacts accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure efficiency. Assembles trays for patients and deliver meal trays to patient rooms and nursing units. Occasionally, may also prepare salads, desserts, beverages and other miscellaneous food items.
