Job Summary and Qualifications

A Baker Act Coordinator at HCA manages and tracks involuntary psychiatric examinations under Florida's Baker Act. They ensure legal compliance, coordinate patient assessment and placement, communicate with legal and medical teams, and oversee documentation and discharge planning.]

Core Responsibilities

• Legal Compliance: Track legal timeframes, rights notifications, and paperwork for involuntary holds.

• Patient Flow: Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges for behavioral health units.

• Interdisciplinary Liaison: Communicate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and court systems.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records for regulatory and state reporting. Qualifications & Skills

• 1-2 yrs experience with psychiatric patients with knowledge of patients' rights, Baker Act and Marchman Act

• Experience with patient advocacy

• Experience: Background in a psychiatric setting

• Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Florida mental health laws and Baker Act criteria.
