Title: Entry Clerk

Employee Status: Regular Full Time

Job Overview:

Entry-level individual contributor who works under direct supervision. Assists in the implementation of projects, programs, and processes to support the organization's overall Racing Operations strategy. Applies foundational knowledge of racing operations to execute procedures and plans for the assigned area. Responsible for the organization and execution of racing events, this group ensures the smooth operation of races by managing the starting process, timing workouts, and coordinating race logistics.

Essential Functions:

  • Takes entries over the phone and in person from trainers for races offered for future days in condition book and overnight.

  • Assists in producing and proofing overnight for publication.

  • Works with other racing officials to fill races as directed by racing secretary.

  • During the afternoons be a part of the team that places the races, operates the tote board and verifies photo finishes.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED

  • Knowledge of racing rules, protocols, and logistics

  • Familiarity with racetrack; i.e., conditions and environment

  • Strong understanding of the various roles and responsibilities of all racing officials

  • Familiarity with racing terminology and conditions book which details races scheduled in upcoming weeks, knowledge of racing conditions, eligibility, and rules of New York State Gaming Commission

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work with a team and independently

  • Basic computer skills

  • Strong verbal communication skills

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Walking up and down stairs. Communication to Trainers over the phone and in-person. Travel to Saratoga up to 25%

Pay Range / Salary: $66,300-$82,000 per year
