Job Duties

Responsible for leading our organization’s efforts in community organizing, providing education, advocacy, leadership development, and inter-group solidarity-building strategies within the immigrant communities in Central Minnesota.

Specific duties include:

  • Recruit, train, and develop primarily Spanish-speaking community leaders.

  • Develop people from the community into members, organizers, volunteers and leadership positions by providing information on civic engagement and individual rights, and leadership training for community engagement.

  • Increase formal membership and general participation, especially with Latinx individuals in the organization.

  • Lead training on topics including health, safety, workers’ rights, community organizing skills, leadership development, and inter-group solidarity building.

  • Support training on immigration-oriented topics.

  • Build strategic relationships with community allies (politicians, non-profits, faith groups, legal assistance, academic institutions, labor groups) in order to grow program partnerships.

  • Develop a database to track contacts and activities.

  • Support fundraising and reporting to funders and partners by organizing fundraisers or seeking individuals to contribute to the organization monetarily.

Minimum Education Required

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field. Requires 2 years of experience.

Experience must include:

  • Experience with expanding an organization’s reach, including recruiting new partners and organizers.

  • Experience with building teams.

  • Experience with making and executing a community organizing plan.

  • Experience with collecting funds and donations.

  • Experience working with diverse communities.

Must be fluent in English and Spanish.

Travel required in MN 10% of time (approx. 3 times/month) for community outreach. Must be willing to drive in this position. Remote work is allowed.
