Position Information
Position Title Sr. Ice Tech
FLSA Non-Exempt
Primary Responsibilities
PURPOSE & PRIMARY FUNCTION
Performs work in the care, cleaning and housekeeping of all University buildings in accordance with established work procedures. Work is generally confined to smaller units on campus and the ice arena, requiring occasional assistance from and coordination of the efforts of Ice Technicians, Cleaners, and other University employees doing this type of work and verifies work time. Primary duties include: Coordinate and install ice sheet painted to NCAA specs, perform safe ice resurfacing and maintain electric Zamboni. Provide training to Ice Technicians as needed. Edge ice daily, measure ice thickness, and maintain uniform pad thickness. Monitor and record refrigeration system readings and oil levels. Inspect arena daily and submit work orders for repairs. Direct Ice Technicians on scheduling, locker room assignments, cleaning duties, event set ups, etc.. Must deliver excellent customer service. Assigns and directs the work of Ice Technicians, Cleaners, and other University employees doing this type of work. IN- SEASON -IT IS EXPECTED TO WORK OVERTIME FOR MEN’S AND WOMEN’S HOCKEY .
Schedule: Flexible Schedule, Tuesday-Saturday, 7am-3:30pm
Days Off: Monday/Sunday
Location: Appleton, Karpus and as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma (or equivalent) required. Valid NYS driver’s license.
Ability to follow verbal and printed instructions and obtain identified training. Ability to work with chemicals. Ability to communicate with and coordinate the work of others. Requires lifting a minimum of 45 lbs., bending, pushing and pulling. Must be able to meet University requirements to be authorized to drive University vehicles as assigned and safely operate ice resurfacing equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experienced Sr. Ice Technicians and Ice Technicians will be given preference.
Salary SEIU Level D $18.09 - $24.45. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
