Overview

Good Samaritan University Hospital is a 537- bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health. The Surgical Technologist assists with the nursing care of patients in the operating room by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standard of practice and policies of the hospital and department. The surgical technologist functions as a scrub assistant. Surgical Technicians function under the supervision of a registered nurse at all times. A registered nurse must be available immediately in case of an emergency.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of the procedures performed and anticipates the surgeon's needs, including providing instruments, sutures and supplies

  • Contribute to the patient's safety by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team

  • Opens delivery table for labor patients

  • Responsible for pharmacy pick ups and transporting lab specimen

Requirements:

  • Experience scrubbing into a variety of specialties preferred

  • Knowledge of regulatory agencies and practice (eg. Nurse Practice Act, Infection Control, OSHA, DOH)

  • Successful completion from an accredited school or college course for Surgical Technologist required

  • Certification from the Surgical Technology Exam or eligibility to sit for the exam

  • BLS/AED training

Salary Range

USD $42.01 - USD $52.52 /Hr.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
