Join Cisco's dynamic Enterprise Switching Product Operations team in Guadalajara as a Mechanical Engineer. You will play a meaningful role in bringing to market and sustaining our high-performance switching portfolio, a cornerstone of Cisco's enterprise networking solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the Cost, Quality, and Delivery of cutting-edge products, working at the intersection of hardware development, supply chain, and manufacturing. Cross-Functional Collaboration You will work with Product Design, Hardware Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Global Supplier Management, and Manufacturing Partners to ensure products meet the highest standards from concept to end-of-life

Your Impact:

The Mechanical Product Engineer (MPE) is the technical liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain operations throughout the product lifecycle. You will lead analysis and design input for manufacturability, sustainability, fulfillment, and quality across multiple projects, including time-to-market critical initiatives. You will manage product-level documentation (BOM structure, production releases, change management) while actively streamlining processes and developing new methodologies.

NPI Phase Activities

  • Evaluate mechanical requirements (environmental, accessories, etc.)
  • Conduct ongoing design reviews and DFM assessments
  • Identify cost avoidance and circular economy opportunities
  • Review tooling design and influence modular designs
  • Perform tolerance analysis and FAI reviews

Sustaining Phase Activities

  • Support manufacturing, fulfillment, quality, service, and field issues through product EOL
  • Execute Manufacturing and Part Change Notices (MCN/PCN)
  • Identify and assess value engineering and circular economy opportunities
  • Assist Supply Chain with risk mitigation strategies and multi-source assessments

Minimum Qualifications:

-Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree with over 7 years of experience in manufacturing processes, including stamping, die casting, injection molding, machining, extrusion, and additive manufacturing. -Design and Analysis: Expertise in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly), as well as tolerance analysis, with the ability to interpret, review, and approve technical designs. -Technical Fundamentals: Strong foundation in mechanics and material properties. -Operational Excellence: Proficiency in supply chain operations, including BOM (Bill of Materials) structuring, risk management, and process improvement and control. -Product and Commodity Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of various products and commodities, including fans, heat sinks, hardware, connectors, and cable assemblies, among others. -English language: Proficient
