This SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER position, is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility and is part of the CA FMS 13 Burbank. General Experience: Possess experience, education or training which provides the ability to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-10: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have at least 24 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series; Ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment; Ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Ability to lead or supervise Instruct Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Trouble Shooting THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-10, is to serve as a working leader of three or more Surface Maintenance Mechanics, WG-5801-10. Performs mechanic duties involving maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Provides technical subordinate guidance and group leadership to employees on the team. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. AREA I= Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment. Military Grades: E-5 through E-6 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
