Van Driver - Burlington County (CV2685-219) - Safe Return Division

Van Driver – Burlington County Shelter

Volunteers of America Delaware Valley is seeking a dependable Van Driver to support our Burlington County Shelter by transporting clients and maintaining agency vehicles. Reporting to the Program Manager, this role is essential to ensuring clients arrive safely to appointments and services—while keeping vehicles clean, compliant, and road-ready.

What You’ll Do:

  • Transport and escort clients to appointments and program-related destinations as needed

  • Coordinate the daily van schedule with program staff

  • Operate agency vehicles in accordance with New Jersey State regulations and all applicable driving laws

  • Deliver mail between facilities and the Administration Office

  • Monitor client behavior while in transit and report concerns to appropriate staff

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment in the van

  • Ensure all passengers (and the driver) use appropriate safety restraints at all times

  • Complete routine vehicle maintenance tasks and ensure inspections are up to date

  • Maintain accurate vehicle records (safety checks, mileage logs, passengers, trips)

  • Maintain the roadside assistance kit and report vehicle upkeep needs to your supervisor

  • Ensure the van is cleaned routinely

  • Complete agency Defensive Driving Training upon hire

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with administrative policies and procedures

  • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and supervisory conferences

  • Complete other duties as assigned

What You Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and ability to meet agency driver standards

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism with clients, staff, and community members

  • Ability to handle Protected Health Information and comply with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules

  • Bilingual abilities are a plus
