Inpatient Nurse Manager – Newton, IA (ONLY A 25 MINUTE DRIVE FROM DES MOINES)

Department Oversight: Medical-Surgical Unit, Special Care Unit, Care Coordination, Clinical Education

Schedule: Full-Time | Leadership Role

MercyOne Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and experienced Inpatient Nurse Manager to lead and support our inpatient units, Care Coordination department, and hospitalist team. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll shape clinical excellence, drive performance improvement, and mentor a dedicated team of healthcare professionals.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage inpatient nursing operations across multiple units.

  • Oversee care coordination and collaborate with hospitalists to ensure seamless patient care.

  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans and unit budgets.

  • Foster a culture of safety, evidence-based practice, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • Mentor and support nursing staff, promoting professional development and high-quality care.

  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and providers.

  • Represent the department in hospital committees and management meetings as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Iowa or compact state.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred (or actively pursuing).

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in acute care or related settings.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.

  • BLS certification (or obtained within 3 months of hire).

  • Completion of Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
