Description: Position Purpose

The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in the operational, clinical, and financial oversight of the Operating Room. This role assists in coordinating daily unit activities, ensuring delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care in the perioperative setting.

The Assistant Nurse Manager serves as a clinical resource and leader, promoting evidence-based practice, staff engagement, and adherence to Mercy Medical Center and Trinity Health standards. This position functions within the Nurse Leader Level 1 (NL1) framework, supporting frontline staff and contributing to unit-based outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Supports the daily clinical and operational functions of the Operating Room
  • Assists with staff scheduling, assignments, and staffing adjustments to ensure safe patient care coverage
  • Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize surgical throughput
  • Provides direct oversight of patient care delivery, ensuring adherence to professional practice standards and sterile technique
  • Serves as a clinical resource to staff and participates in patient care as needed
  • Assists with staff supervision including orientation, coaching, mentoring, and performance management
  • Promotes a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the OR
  • Supports regulatory compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation standards
  • Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, and process improvement initiatives
  • Assists in managing operational challenges, patient flow, and staffing needs in real time
  • Encourages staff development, engagement, and accountability
  • Supports service excellence and patient satisfaction initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required Licensure:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts required Experience:

  • Operating Room experience required; must have experience as an OR Registered Nurse

  • Prior supervisory, charge nurse, or lead experience strongly preferred Certifications:

  • CPR certification required

  • ACLS, PALS, and/or PEARS certifications preferred

Position Highlights:

Salary: $48.45/hr - $77.50/hr

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location

Work Schedule: 6:30 am – 3:00 pm Monday - Friday
