PRN, 1st Shift
BHCOR-Senior Psych Unit I Corbin, KY
The Senior Psychiatric unit is licensed for 8 acute psychiatric beds for patients with a primary psychiatric diagnosis. The Senior Psychiatric unit specializes in adult care of patients 55 years old and older and an interdisciplinary treatment team approach is utilized in caring for patients.
Performs care requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgement and nursing skills based upon the principles of psychological, biological, physical and social sciences in the application of the nursing process. Utilizes high-level assessment skills to design and ensure multidisciplinary patient care to meet holistic needs, incorporating established practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
Description:
Provides safe, high-quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans.
Monitors patient conditions, administers treatments and physician orders, and documents patient care accurately.
Educates patients and families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and discharge needs.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes and continuity of care.
Demonstrates critical thinking, clinical judgment, leadership, and teamwork in daily nursing practice.
Maintains compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, licensure, and continuing education standards.
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing required
Current Kentucky RN license or Kentucky work permit required
Associate degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
No experience required; patient care experience preferred
Certifications/Training
BLS through the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire
Additional required training within 30 days may include:
Glucometer Training
Aegis Training
RN Patient Deterioration
Life Threatening Arrhythmia
Nurse Wound Care Training
