Full job description

EHS Leadership and Governance

  • Provide EHS leadership across India operations, ensuring alignment with company values, policies, and regional and global EHS expectations.

  • Act as the primary EHS authority for India, advising leadership on EHS risks, legal obligations, and performance improvement opportunities.

  • Support integration of EHS expectations within business planning, operational decision making, and change management activities.

  • Develop and maintain the India EHS strategy in alignment with the Vontier global EHSS strategy, ensuring consistency of intent and expectations while enabling effective local execution.

Regulatory Compliance and Legal Assurance

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable Indian environmental, occupational health and industrial safety laws, rules, permits and consent conditions.

  • Maintain awareness of evolving EHS legislation in India and assess business impacts and required actions.

  • Serve as the primary interface with regulatory authorities, inspectors, and government agencies as required.

  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, inquiries, and enforcement actions, including corrective action tracking and closure.

Risk Management and Operational Safety

  • Identify, assess and prioritize EHS risks across operations and implement effective controls in collaboration with operations leadership.

  • Provide oversight and guidance on hazard identification, risk assessments, and safe work practices.

  • Ensure contractor and supplier EHS risks are effectively managed and aligned with company requirements.

Incident Management and Investigation

  • Lead or oversee investigation of serious incidents, near misses, occupational illnesses, and environmental events.

  • Ensure root cause analysis is completed and effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented and sustained.

  • Ensure timely and accurate internal and external incident reporting as required.

Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity

  • Ensure site level emergency response and crisis management plans are established, maintained and tested.

  • Coordinate with site leadership and external emergency services to support readiness for fires, chemical releases, natural disasters and other emergency scenarios.

  • Provide EHS input into business continuity and resilience planning for India operations.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor EHS performance indicators and trends across India operations.

  • Provide regular EHS performance updates to India leadership and regional or global EHS leadership.

  • Identify systemic issues and recommend actions to improve EHS outcomes.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Facilities and Maintenance to embed EHS considerations into daily activities.

  • Partner with People and Culture on training, onboarding, wellness, and employee engagement related to EHS.

  • Support employee involvement and consultation in EHS matters, including safety committees where applicable.

Team Leadership and Capability Building

  • Lead, coach and develop India EHS team members, ensuring clear accountability and capability growth.

  • Build strong working relationships with site EHS resources and operational leaders.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in EHS practices.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • NEBOSH International Certificate/Diploma, Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Typically, 10 or more years of progressive EHS experience, including senior leadership responsibility within India.

  • Strong working knowledge of Indian EHS legislation, regulatory processes, and enforcement practices.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, field service, or assembly operations.

  • Proven ability to lead incident investigations, regulatory engagements, and risk reduction initiatives.

  • Strong leadership, influencing and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.

  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Professional certifications in safety, health or environment are desirable.
