Full job description

This position will be to cover a Leave Of Absence in the 2026 - 2027 school year. Anticipated Start Date: 9/16/2026 Anticipated End Date: TBD

Location: Finger Lakes Technical and Career Center (FLTCC), Stanley, NY 14561

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing high quality instruction to secondary students in a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, high-level of engagement and eagerness to continue to learn and grow; working collaboratively with other teachers and community members to ensure continued learning of relevant skills and authentic application of those skills; supporting students as they develop a strong work ethic, pride in their work and the foundational skills employers have identified; willingness to develop/grow/promote the program to include all learners; and differentiating instruction to ensure all students experience success. Must hold a commitment to promoting equity, practicing cultural responsiveness, and creating inclusive environments.

Job Qualifications

CTE Teachers must possess, or be qualified to obtain, appropriate New York State Education Department Certification, and maintain such throughout employment. If not currently certified, successful candidate will be provided assistance in next steps, which include selecting a personalized pathway to obtain certification. NYSED certification includes, at a minimum, approved fingerprints, completion of DASA Training and SAVE Workshop, Child Abuse Identification Workshop, and submission of education and work experience to obtain Transitional certification. For this position, candidates must pursue NYS Teaching Certification in Trade Subjects – Cosmetology. This certificate requires the applicant to have in-depth, comprehensive and appropriate work experience in personal service settings for cosmetology customers. Experience may include, but is not limited to, cutting and styling of hair, coloring and bleaching hair, permanent wave curling and chemical straightening, natural nail services and artificial nail enhancement applications, and skin care services. A current NYS Department of State cosmetology license is required.

Successful candidates will be required to continue to work through the teacher certification process until achieving Professional Level certification.
