Job Description:

The IT Operations team of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for an Event Technical Support Specialist. This team member will support the planning, setup, and delivery of technology for NAIC meetings, events, and end-user services. This role provides hands-on technical support for event platforms, devices, and related productivity systems while ensuring a responsive, high-quality customer experience for staff, members, and VIP users. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and comfortable supporting onsite, remote, after-hours, and travel-based event. This is a full-time hybrid position. Residency within 100 miles of the Kansas City office is required .

Responsibilities Include

  • Provide technical lead and hands-on support for technologies used to deliver high-profile and small events, ensuring strong customer service and reliable technical implementation.

  • Travel to NAIC meetings and remote offices to provide technical support, including participation in after-hours and on-call support rotations as needed.

  • Coordinate with event team members toidentifyequipment needs and prepare detailed inventories for each event.

  • Document expectations and provide guidance for support staff attending events and delivering remote technical support.

  • Lead process and procedural improvements that enhance operational efficiency andthe end-user experience.

  • Provide expert troubleshooting and technical support across the NAIC end-user computing environment, including desktops, mobile devices, collaboration tools, Office 365, Active Directory, printers, and related productivity software.

  • Delivertimelysupport to end-users and VIPs through phone, in-person, and messaging channels, andmaintainaccuratedocumentation in the Jira Service Desk system.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business and 4+ years of experience in a Desktop Support role providing in-person and remote “Tier 2” end-user support or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience supporting end-user hardware (MacBook, Surface laptops, thin clients, monitors, printers).

  • Experienceinstalling, configuring, and supporting software programs and operating systems.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills for event preparation, planning, and coordination with A/V providers.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time to complete assigned tasks/projects.

  • Effective time management, communication, and customer service skills.

Preferred Experience

Relevant technology certifications (example: A+, Network+, Microsoft, or Apple) certifications are a plus.

Systems & Technology Requirements

Microsoft Office Suite/365, Slack, Cisco WebEx

Travel

This position requires regular, out-of-state, overnight travel in support of member meetings and events throughout the year. An ideal candidate must be able and willing to travel to locations throughout the United States and with such frequency as necessary to meet the needs of this position and the Association.

Compensation

Up to $72,000, to be commensurate with education and experience.
