Direct Placement Title: Manager of Electrical Engineering Compensation: Up to $225K/yr. Plus Benefits and Equity, commensurate with experience Location: Denver, CO Hybrid Company Description: Our Client is an industrial-scale data center construction and operations company. They allocate data center opportunities between bitcoin mining and other high performance computing services, such as AI. They continue to develop their pipeline of power capacity at high-quality data center sites, either for bitcoin mining or HPC. We are seeking a Manager of Electrical Engineering to lead and coordinate all electrical design disciplines and decisions across a portfolio of fast-track hyperscale data center projects. This role is deeply embedded in project execution, responsible for reviewing detailed electrical designs, resolving complex technical issues, coordinating with contractors and utilities, and participating directly in project, vendor, and customer discussions. Given the mission-critical nature of electrical systems in data centers, the ideal candidate has significant experience in both the design and operation of data centers, with a strong understanding of how design decisions impact construction, commissioning, reliability, and long-term operations. While this role will not initially stamp drawing sets, a Professional Engineering (PE) license is strongly preferred should responsibilities expand in the future. Core Responsibilities: Electrical Design Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead all electrical engineering efforts across projects, including:

  • Utility interconnections and substations

  • Medium- and low-voltage power distribution

  • Transformers, switchgear, and protection schemes

  • Backup power systems (generators, UPS where applicable)

  • Grounding, bonding, and life safety interfaces

  • Coordinate electrical design across:

  • Concept

  • Schematic

  • Detailed design phases

  • Ensure alignment between electrical, mechanical, CSA, and technology systems

Drawing Review & Technical Oversight

  • Perform detailed reviews of:

  • Electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations

  • One-lines, load studies, and protection coordination

  • Identify and resolve:

  • Design gaps

  • Constructability issues

  • Interface risks

  • Ensure designs reflect:

  • Operational realities

  • Commissioning and maintenance needs

Contractor, Utility & Vendor Engagement

  • Participate in:

  • Design coordination meetings

  • Contractor constructability reviews

  • Utility and AHJ discussions

  • Vendor technical reviews

  • Support field teams by:

  • Responding to RFIs

  • Reviewing submittals

  • Supporting energization and commissioning efforts

  • Serve as a trusted technical interface with:

  • Utilities

  • Electrical contractors

  • OEMs

External Consultant & EOR Management

  • Manage electrical Engineers of Record and specialty consultants

  • Review and approve deliverables for quality, completeness, and alignment with standards

  • Ensure external teams meet schedule and performance expectations

Standards, Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Support development and refinement of:

  • Electrical design standards

  • Reference architectures

  • Redundancy and reliability philosophies

  • Incorporate lessons learned from:

  • Construction

  • Commissioning

  • Operations

  • Balance standardization with site-specific and utility-driven requirements

  • Electrical designs are robust, buildable, and scalable

  • Fewer electrical RFIs, changes, and field conflicts

  • Smooth utility coordination and energization

  • Commissioning proceeds without major rework

  • Electrical standards improve delivery speed and reliability

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 12 –18+ years of experience in:

  • Electrical engineering

  • Mission-critical or industrial power systems

  • Significant experience with:

  • Data center design and operations

  • High-density power environments

  • Proven ability to review and coordinate:

  • Complex electrical systems and drawings

  • Strong understanding of:

  • Power distribution

  • Protection and controls

  • Codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, etc.)

  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, lean environments

Strongly Preferred / Differentiators

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license (strongly preferred)

  • Direct experience with:

  • HPC, AI/ML, or crypto data centers

  • Experience supporting:

  • Utility interconnections and substations

  • Exposure to:

  • Commissioning and operational turnover

  • Comfort interfacing directly with utilities, contractors, and customers

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and Professional Engineering (PE) license is strongly preferred.
