Job Description:

Reviews RFIs and Change Orders, validating requests for scope of work, correct quantities, and pricing. Collaborates to create and update a historical cost database utilizing existing cost information on completed projects. Accounts for all required resources, including labor, materials, taxes, fees, and time. Conducts value analysis from conceptual through CD phases of design to final GMP contract. Implements cost control measures to manage project budgets effectively. Collaborates with project managers on estimating construction projects, value engineering, and pricing issues. Reviews plans and specifications for design completeness, coordination, and constructability. Ensures compliance with safety requirements, including OSHA regulations, and manages costs to provide a safe working environment. Executes take-offs of construction documents and inputs take-offs into a computer spreadsheet. Monitors subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with project budget and specification requirements. Participates in owner update meetings to provide accurate cost information and project status. Prepares conceptual and detailed cost estimates for preconstruction projects of various types and sizes. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Highly competent in specific estimating discipline with strong mathematics skills [Required]

  • Strong understanding of building construction with the ability to review plans, drawings, and specifications, and produce a written report of the findings [Required]

  • Ability to multitask including management of contract employees, consultants, vendors and staff [Required]
  • Knowledge of Florida’s construction industry and practices [Preferred]

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimate Development. Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and detailed estimates using quantity takeoffs, benchmarking, historical cost data, market pricing, and cost modeling techniques appropriate to each phase of project development.
  • Total Project Cost Planning. Develop and validate comprehensive project budgets that incorporate both construction and non-construction costs, including design and consultant fees, owner-furnished equipment (OFE), permitting, testing, escalation, contingency strategies, owner costs, and other project soft costs.
  • Scope & Cost Validation. Review drawings, specifications, programming documents, bid packages, and project narratives to identify scope gaps, assumptions, allowances, alternates, exclusions, and budget risks.
  • Cost Analytics & Benchmarking. Maintain market intelligence through benchmarking, historical project data, industry trends, and escalation analysis. Develop cost models that support capital planning, executive decision-making, and enterprise reporting.
  • Schedule & Delivery Strategy. Evaluate schedule assumptions and their impact on project cost, escalation, procurement, and delivery. Provide recommendations regarding delivery strategies, fast-track opportunities, phasing, and other schedule optimization approaches that improve project outcomes.
  • Cost Control & Value Optimization. Identify cost risks, constructability considerations, escalation exposure, and value optimization opportunities that improve budget certainty while maintaining clinical, operational, and design objectives.
  • Stakeholder Partnership. Collaborate with Planning, Design & Construction, Facilities, Finance, Supply Chain, consultants, and market leaders to align project scope, schedule, and budget assumptions throughout preconstruction.
  • Executive Communication. Present estimates, assumptions, cost drivers, schedule impacts, and recommendations to executive leadership, project teams, and external partners. Clearly communicate estimate confidence levels, risks, and decision points.
  • Estimating Standards & Process Improvement. Support development and maintenance of the AdventHealth Way estimating database, benchmarking library, templates, standards, and estimating methodologies to improve consistency and accuracy across the enterprise.
  • Mentorship & Technical Leadership. Provide technical leadership to project teams and mentor junior estimators by promoting estimating best practices, quality assurance, documentation standards, and continuous improvement. Education:

Field of Study:

  • OSHA safety training, minimum 10-hour course completion Work Experience:

  • 10+ experience estimating in both hard bid and negotiation work [Required]

Pay Range:

$66,170.74 - $179,045.63 Background Screening Requirement (Florida Law)
