About the Position: As the Electronic System Control Craft Worker in Charge you will be responsible for performing a combination of shop, plant, and outside work at a multi-purpose power project. You will execute all tasks of a journey level electrician and in addition, direct and coordinate the acceptable quantity and quality of work from a semi-skilled and skilled work crew. The Ability to Lead or Supervise: The ability to perform common tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment; as well as the ability to give verbal instructions as to the nature of repairs, installation, or maintenance to be made, and can proceed to carry out the work in cleaning, making adjustments and/or repairs, calibration, and retest of equipment including various relays, meters, recorders, controllers, indicators, radio transmitters and receivers, oscillators and amplifiers, electronic relays and other electronic and communication equipment. The ability to perform this work in an Industrial setting, under normal supervision is required - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Theory of Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics Physical Effort: The incumbent handles heavy parts and equipment and works in cramped quarters in tiring positions. Physical effort requires climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and twisting objects frequently weighing up to, and occasionally over, 45 pounds, and standing for long periods of time on hard surfaces. Ability to work in awkward positions requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling and twisting. A high degree of concentrated mental and visual attention is necessary to determine cause of trouble and to plan and carry out corrective action; to interpret complex drawings; and to coordinate a high degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention for sustained periods. Ability to distinguish colors is essential. Working Conditions: Works both inside and outside the powerhouse other structures, and outdoors. Outside work subjects employee to usual climate conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow). Work is often unpleasant due to weather, dirt, grease, dust, high noise levels, etc. There is danger of serious injury or death if employee contacts energized equipment and danger of drowning when working above swift moving water. May work with a variety of toxic or caustic materials. Required to work in concrete structures. There is a possibility of cuts, burns, falls, and electrical shock Employee is subject to the discomfort of wearing required safety equipment such as ear plugs, hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, safety harness, etc. Must wear appropriate safety equipment and protective clothing, and successfully complete and maintain all occupational health requirements. You will make recommendations for advance planning for crew work assignments, order materials necessary for the job, and mobilize resources needed to execute work assignments. You will be responsible for scheduling equipment outages and coordinating work efforts with other crews and contractors. You will provide verbal or written reports to higher level supervisors that describe the status of work assignments, causes of delay, and technical or personnel problems encountered while executing work assignments. You will participate in job hazard analyses, request and hold safe clearances, and maintain a safe work environment for your crew. Security clearance required: Secret
