Description

Our client is looking for an experienced Merchandising Manager to join their team in the Old Bridge, New Jersey area. In this role, you will oversee strategic planning, execution, and income objectives for assigned grocery categories. Your efforts will focus on optimizing sales, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring alignment with business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and achieve budget objectives, including sales targets, gross profit margins, and promotional income for assigned categories.

  • Lead negotiations with vendors and brokers to secure competitive pricing, promotional programs, and contracts.

  • Plan and implement weekly promotional campaigns, including creating competitive ads and accurate sales forecasts.

  • Prepare and present materials for committee meetings, such as competitive ad reviews, promotional price points, and new product proposals.

  • Conduct market research to analyze trends, competitor strategies, and category performance for informed decision-making.

  • Maintain and optimize product assortments by managing item setup, cost accuracy, and inventory updates.

  • Resolve vendor billing issues efficiently, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.

  • Monitor and maintain gross profit margin targets in alignment with quarterly goals.

  • Perform regular pricing reviews to ensure competitiveness in the market.

  • Collaborate with vendors and attend industry events to negotiate deals and secure promotions for the organization.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in merchandising, retail, or a related field.

  • Strong background in sales strategy and category management.

  • Proven expertise in negotiation and vendor relationship management.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret market trends.

  • Skilled in using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex projects effectively.

  • Familiarity with retail pricing strategies and promotional planning.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with vendors, store owners, and team members.
