Full job description

Overview

Microsoft Security (MSEC) is seeking a Senior and Principal Product Managers to help shape and scale the Getting Customers Ready for AI strategic initiative.

This role sits at the intersection of AI transformation, security, and customer readiness, and plays a key part in helping organizations confidently and securely adopt AI at enterprise scale. As AI-powered experiences and agentic systems rapidly reshape how work gets done, customers need clear guidance, trusted solutions, and measurable outcomes to prepare their environments. In this role, you will define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI readiness across critical domains—including identity, devices, data, applications, infrastructure, governance, and overall security posture.

You will partner deeply across Engineering, Design, Research, Customer Experience, Sales, Marketing, Support, and other Product Management teams to translate customer needs and strategic priorities into coherent end-to-end product experiences. This is a highly collaborative role with significant visibility, requiring strong influence across Microsoft Security and Microsoft 365, including engagement with senior leaders and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings a balance of product judgment, technical depth, customer empathy, and systems thinking. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, using customer and market insights to drive clarity, making principled tradeoffs, and mobilizing cross-functional teams around a shared product direction.

This is a unique opportunity to shape how enterprises prepare for and adopt AI securely -- defining the future of customer readiness while contributing to high-impact product and platform initiatives across Microsoft.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for key workstreams within the Getting Customers Ready for AI initiative across Microsoft Security.

  • Develop a clear understanding of customer readiness needs, market dynamics, and business opportunities, and translate those insights into differentiated product priorities.

  • Define customer readiness frameworks, success measures, and product outcomes that improve secure AI adoption.

  • Prioritize investments and make tradeoffs across customer value, technical feasibility, business impact, risk, and time to market.

  • Create alignment and secure buy-in for product direction with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.

Product Definition & Execution

  • Lead product definition from concept through delivery, adoption, evals, measurement, and iteration for customer-facing experiences involving security, AI systems, identity, devices, governance, and cloud services.

  • Partner with Engineering and Design to define requirements, scenarios, user experiences, and integrated product capabilities that address the highest-value customer problems.

  • Drive clarity across multiple product teams to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences rather than fragmented point solutions.

  • Use qualitative and quantitative signals to evaluate product performance, identify gaps, and guide roadmap decisions.

  • Define telemetry, instrumentation, KPIs, and learning plans needed to measure customer adoption, readiness, engagement, and outcomes.

  • Anticipate dependencies, risks, and platform constraints, and work across teams to resolve them while preserving the intended customer outcome.

Customer & Ecosystem Focus

  • Engage directly with customers, partners, customer-facing teams, and co-creation programs to understand needs, blockers, adoption patterns, and implementation challenges.

  • Synthesize customer feedback, research, support signals, and market insights into product opportunities, requirements, and roadmap recommendations.

  • Partner with Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Experience, and Support to define product positioning, adoption strategies, onboarding experiences, and scalable go-to-market motions.

  • Drive clarity around priority customer scenarios, secure deployment patterns, operational best practices, and measurable value.

  • Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders and use product expertise and data to navigate challenging feedback and competing priorities.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Create effective operating rhythms and decision-making mechanisms that help cross-functional teams move from strategy to product outcomes.

  • Communicate product vision, priorities, roadmap, customer insights, tradeoffs, and results through executive-ready narratives and reviews.

  • Partner across organizational boundaries to align related product areas, reduce duplication, and unlock integrated customer value.

  • Use AI-assisted workflows, reusable artifacts, and lightweight mechanisms to improve the speed and quality of product discovery, decision-making, and execution.

  • Contribute to an inclusive, customer-obsessed culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement; coach and support peers when appropriate.

  • 4+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).

  • Proven experience defining product vision and strategy and driving complex, cross-functional products or feature areas across multiple engineering and product teams in highly matrixed, ambiguous environments.
