Full job description

Position Summary The Quality Inspector is responsible for the first time delivery of quality products as they flow throughout the operation and to the customer both internally and externally. The Quality Inspector is responsible for testing and inspecting parts at various parts of the process as well as ensuring ISO/ IATF16949 compliance. . Position Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Gather sample pieces to conduct inspections and/or tests to verify product conformance. Depending on assignment, may work with set-ups (first piece inspection), parts in-process (line inspection), finished product (final inspection), subcontracted parts, or tooling.

  • Report nonconformance with assistance, determine dispositions and process deviations.

  • Provide input into the resolution of problems.

  • Provide gage support for manufacturing personnel. Activities include supplying, setting-up, checking, calibrating gauges, and conducting gauge studies.

  • Perform and/or support SPC activities.

  • Provide assistance in interpreting specifications, measurement methods, containment procedures, and monitoring of new or difficult parts.

  • Initiate, complete, or verify records documenting quality assurance activities to assure compliance to internal procedures, customer requirements, IATF16949 and ISO 14001 standards, and EH&S requirements.

  • Maintain a clean, orderly work area.

  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications-Education/Experience

Required:

  • Ability to use and understand various precision measuring tools.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Knowledge of quality processes and procedures.

  • Knowledge and application of heat-treated materials for hardness and durability.

  • Knowledge IATF16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.

  • Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards.

  • Demonstrate the understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform basic and repetitive work assignments.

  • Provide written communication as needed.

  • Use math skills for blueprint reading, gaging and SPC.

  • Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems

Preferred

  • Preferred 2-years of Quality or equivalent experience.
