Full job description

Location: San Leandro, CAJob Type: Full-time, on-siteExperience: 2–7 yrs, (ChemE/MechE) About EELIEELI Technology is building the future of lithium production. As a venture-backed company, EELI is developing next-generation electrochemical systems to enable sustainable lithium recovery from low-grade resources. Our platform integrates electrochemistry, fluid systems, and modular reactor design to unlock new pathways for domestic critical mineral production. We are seeking a Scale-Up Engineer to help bridge the gap between lab-scale innovation and real-world deployment. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical design, process engineering, and system integration, and will play a critical role in building EELI’s first pilot-scale systems. What you’ll do- Lead the design and development of electrochemical reactor systems, including flow cells, modules, and supporting hardware.- Perform mechanical design using CAD (SolidWorks) for reactors, enclosures, manifolds, and system layouts.- Develop process flow concepts, including fluid handling, pumping, and system integration.- Size and specify tanks, tubing, pumps, valves, and instrumentation for lab and pilot systems.- Build and assemble prototype and pilot-scale systems, working directly in the lab.- Collaborate with electrochemists to translate experimental requirements into engineered systems.- Support scale-up efforts from lab to pilot, including system debugging and iteration.- Work with vendors and fabricators to source and manufacture components.- Document designs, system configurations, and test results. Qualifications- BS or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field- 2+ years of relevant industry or applied research experience (flexible for exceptional candidates)- Experience with mechanical design (SolidWorks or similar CAD tools)- Strong understanding of fluid systems and process hardware- Hands-on experience building physical systems (lab, pilot, or industrial) About The RoleAs a Scale-Up Engineer, you will design, build, and iterate on electrochemical reactor systems and supporting process infrastructure. You will work closely with the founding team to translate experimental insights into functional, scalable hardware. This is a hands-on, build-first role requiring both engineering design and practical execution. Apply by emailing your resume to [email protected]
