As an Ingalls Painter - Skilled, you are part of a specialized coatings team responsible for blasting and painting ship structures to exact contract requirements. Your work ensures proper surface preparation, accurate coating thickness, and long-lasting protection - craftsmanship essential to every vessel we build.

What You Can Earn

  • Earn up to $35.99 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.

What You'll Do

  • Perform blasting and painting using marine coatings to meet specified contract requirements.

  • Understand and follow blasting and painting specifications, including blast profiles, millage requirements, and coating procedures.

  • Prepare surfaces and apply coatings using spray equipment, rollers, or brushes as directed by supervision.

  • Use blasting equipment, surface-prep tools, and coating application tools safely and effectively.

  • Support ship construction in diverse environments and be available to work any shift in a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Must Have

Requires a minimum 3 or more years experience as a painter/blaster.

Nice to Have

  • Must be able to perform all blast requirements and functions utilizing all applications.

  • Identify and correct blast and paint deficiencies as required by the contract specifications. Testing will consist of the ability to hook up airlines to the manifold and spray horizontal, vertical and side to side.

  • Able to sand blast and demonstrate how to utilize each part of the blast equipment.
