JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Special Education Teacher
Job Description: The Special Education Teacher provides high quality instruction to students with disabilities.
Qualifications:

Hold valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification
-
Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards
-
Knowledge of Committee on Special Education process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation and progress monitoring.
-
Experience with providing special education students with learning experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment
-
Experience with developing and/or modifying curriculum, preparing lessons and providing specially designed instruction to address individual student needs
-
Experience with establishing and maintain open communication with parents, students, teachers and other relevant stakeholders
-
Flexibility to meet the needs of a range of student learners
-
In-depth knowledge of effective interventions
-
Ability to work effectively with a variety of staff

Strong communication skills

Responsibilities: Shall include but are not limited to the following:

Terms of Employment:
The position of Special Education Teacher is a ten-month position. The terms established in accordance with the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Victor Teachers' Association.
Evaluation: Per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Central Teachers' Association.
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Elementary or Secondary Special Education
Salary:Minimum starting salary $49,500 (negotiable based on experience), as per the Victor Teachers' Association agreement. The VTA contract can be found on the Victor Central School District website under the Human Resources tab.
