This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR, Position Description Number D1285000 and is part of the NJ UTES, National Guard. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months experience in the following: Diagnosing, repairing overhauling, modifying: Complex vehicle Equipment Complicated systems Knowledge of diagnostic equipment Skill in applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques to resolve maintenance problems Ability to test, inspect, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR, WG-5801-11, you will: Inspects a large variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment Inspects complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition Inspects and performs tests to braking, steering, and differential systems Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed Prepares lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized. Conditions of Employment Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service You may be required to successfully complete a 1- or 2- year probation/trial period to assess performance, conduct, agency needs, public interest, and efficiency. Employment ends unless certified in writing that it advances the agencies interest. Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: SGT and Max: SFC Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. Military Unit -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support.
