Special Education Teacher (EC Teacher) – Self-Contained Classroom (K–5)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher (EC Teacher) to provide high-quality instructional services to elementary students in a self-contained classroom setting. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher will support students with diverse learning needs while collaborating with school staff, families, and educational support personnel to ensure academic and behavioral success.
The ideal candidate is committed to student growth, individualized instruction, and active participation in developing and implementing educational programs that help students reach their full potential.
Responsibilities

Provide specialized instruction to students with exceptional learning needs in a self-contained classroom environment.

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, support staff, and families.

Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral supports.

Maintain accurate documentation and student progress records.

Participate in team meetings, program planning, and professional development activities.

Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Provide consultation and instructional support to educational staff as needed.

Minimum Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
-
Active North Carolina Exceptional Children (EC) Teaching License required

Valid state teaching certification as required by state and district regulations

Minimum of one year of teaching experience preferred

Special Education certification preferred
-
Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
-
Ability to comply with all professional standards of practice
-
Current CPR certification if required
-
TB screening, questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
-
Current health certificate if required by state or contract regulations
-
Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
