Job Description Summary

The Senior Welding/Joining Engineer will play a critical role on the Advanced Manufacturing & Repair Technology’s Global Process Development team, driving Joining Technology growth, capability, and innovation for our Repairs Value Stream customers globally. This role is essential to enabling and advancing gas turbine repair through the development, optimization, and deployment of advanced joining and welding processes.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in welding, brazing, and furnace heat treatment technologies, along with a strong background in process development and industrial implementation. This individual will help build global capability by developing robust, scalable manufacturing and repair processes, while partnering cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and repair teams.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and advancement of joining, brazing, and furnace heat treatment technologies to support global gas turbine repair applications.

  • Develop, qualify, and implement new and improved processes in welding and brazing .

  • Partner with global Repairs Value Stream teams to identify technical needs and deliver process solutions that improve repair capability, quality, and productivity.

  • Drive process innovation from concept through validation, industrialization, and deployment.

  • Support and enhance capability for joining and welding platforms, including programming and process optimization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, repair engineering, quality, Design Engineering, Materials Process Engineering, and operations to ensure successful process integration.

  • Partner with other process teams to implement complementary special processes from a systems perspective, such as machining, surface prep, and automation technologies , that enhance joining technology and downstream performance and repeatability.

  • Develop technical documentation, process specifications, qualification plans, and standard work to support global adoption.

  • Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts for joining-related repair processes.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for joining technologies across the organization and help build technical capability within the global team.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering .

  • Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in Welding, Brazing process development .

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters Degree in Welding

  • Experience developing and qualifying new welding or joining processes for production or repair manufacturing environments.

  • Knowledge of special processes that complement joining technologies, such as machining, automation, or surface prep technologies.

  • Familiarity with repair processes and technologies used in gas turbine or aerospace industrial applications.

  • Proven ability to work across global teams and drive technical solutions in a collaborative environment.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project leadership skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Deep technical curiosity and passion for advancing manufacturing and repair technology.

  • Ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical, scalable process solutions.

  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to lead initiatives from development through implementation.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, cross-functional, and global environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, mentor, and build technical capability across teams.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
