Description
Job Purpose: The Nursing Clinical Informaticist bridges nursing practice and information technology, working to optimize clinical workflows, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and health information technology to improve patient care quality, safety, and efficiency. This role combines clinical nursing expertise with informatics knowledge to support system design, implementation, education, and continuous improvement of clinical documentation and decision-support tools. This position supports clinical informatics principles including one patient, one record, one system. Aims to improve electronic health record (EMR) accuracy and efficiency related to documentation, clinical care performed and financial reimbursement linked to documentation.
Education : Graduation from an accredited nursing program with Associate’s degree or diploma. Employee is trained and prepared to care for the age-specific group {i.e.: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric}.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science/Nursing degree or Master’s degree.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse .
Preferred: Certification in area of practice. BSN or MSN (Consistent with the type of patient population to be managed).
Knowledge: Possess a working knowledge of NYS Department of Health Code, Rules and Regulations, accreditation requirements, bargaining and non-bargaining unit agreements, OSHA, infection control, safety, body mechanics, child abuse reporting requirements, scope of practice.
