Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction Location: Middlesex/Waitsfield, VT – Onsite with weekly or biweekly job-site travel
About the Company Established for 40 years, the company is a 91-person heavy civil contractor specializing in heavy civil construction, wastewater, R&G, dam work, excavation, and process piping. The company has built a strong reputation for taking on complex projects and solving unique construction challenges while maintaining a close-knit, family-oriented culture.
About the Role We are seeking experienced Project Managers to join a growing heavy civil construction team. This role will manage multiple projects from planning through closeout, with typical project values of $2M–$10M and durations of 6 months to 2 years.
Responsibilities
- Manage 3–4 projects simultaneously from planning through closeout
- Oversee schedules, budgets, costs, and project deliverables
- Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, owners, and internal teams
- Conduct project meetings and monitor overall project progress
- Ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with safety expectations
- Use Procore and Oracle/P6 for project management and scheduling
Must-Haves
- 3–5+ years of Project Management experience in heavy civil, wastewater, dam work, excavation, process piping, or a closely related industry
- Candidates without direct industry experience should have 5–7+ years of PM experience
- Experience managing $2M+ projects from start to finish
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints
- Understanding of survey work
- Willingness to travel to job sites throughout the Northeast; most travel is day-trip based
PMP certification is a plus.
